The 1841 census is the first census that lists names, addresses and family details in addition if a person was blind. Ages are not accurate, firstly on the basis many parents did not know the ages of their children as birthdays were not celebrated. In addition, it was guess-work and listed either a number 5 ending i.e. 15, 25. 25. But also ending in 0 like 10, 20 etc.
For a number of years I taught the history of Ball Green and for one term we looked at the census returns, first listing all onto a spreadsheet to enable searches and calculations to be achieved easily
